A multitasker of the first order, KIRAN NADAR joins to discuss representing India at bridge tournaments around the world, and the interplay between that and her roles as a philanthropist and museum founder, as well as sharing her top tip for developing players. But first, we kibitz!

Disappointingly, it seems as though bridge will continue to be with masks, other than for those who are exempted. The return of supper and afternoon tea will have to wait also.
Because of dwindling numbers this year, the club has decided that we will not be hosting Saturday bridge in 2022. Another casualty of the times.
On a happier note, we would like to welcome 20 new members from the latest lessons, who will be joining the previous lesson group of 12 players in playing sessions from November.
Following a casual warmup on Monday, 1st November, there will be a 3 week event on Thursdays from 4th November, which will run alongside the new Thursday Swiss Pairs event. All players will be welcome to play in the Swiss Pairs, but the official winners will be from the R and B grades.
Separate to this, we would love to see a few more experienced players, come in to sit with the newer members through their first event. They will really enjoy having a more experienced player at the table to bounce questions off, and it is a great way to meet our newer members.
There will be a roster coming out shortly if you can help, or let Martyn know if you are available for the 1st, and/or 4th, and/or 11th, and/or 18th November, to help the new players get started.
A reminder that there will be no play on Monday 25th October, and the normal Monday session will run on Wednesday, 27th October.
RealBridge is an online bridge platform which replicates the experience of face-to-face bridge, using built-in video and audio of the other players. The platform combines ease of use for players and directors, maximum security, and the most inviting environment possible.
RealBridge has been developed with clubs and teachers in mind, rather than casual ‘pickup games’. They are focused on providing clubs and teachers with the ability to offer a unique bridge experience. Players do not need to be members or even register - that is totally under the control of the clubs when they set up the sessions.
They are already used by over 1,000 bridge clubs around the world. Although UK based, RealBridge is a global organisation and have installed servers in Australia to provide a high-quality, reliable and stable service for all their customers in the Oceania region.
The system caters for most formats: Howell, Mitchell and Swiss Pairs; Swiss teams, head-to-head matches and round robin; Matchpoints, IMPs and Board a Match. Results, including bidding and play from all tables.
Taster sessions are held 2-3 times per week. More dates will be added on Sunday, so please do check for more opportunities. If you would like to participate sign up using the link at
