The Bobbie Monigatti Matariki Cup
Bobbie Monigatti is a foundation member of our Club, which was formed in 1969.
She has contributed greatly to our Club over the years, but more recently has been running the very successful Friday afternoon sessions; these have an extremely friendly atmosphere with all grades of players (including new members recently graduating from lessons) represented.
She always held a special mid-winter Friday session, which included a pot luck lunch and mulled wine preceding bridge.
When New Zealand first began observing Matariki as a public holiday in 2022, the mid-winter Friday session was renamed “Matariki”.
This cup was donated by Michael Appleby in 2023, who spotted the cup while holidaying in Australia.
